About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

ESAB Savage A41 Air Welding Helmet Package With PAPR Ventilation System Launched

Weldtech UK, a leading supplier of welding equipment in the UK, has launched its new line of air welding helmet sets.

-- The latest package includes the ESAB Savage A41 Air Helmet and the compatible ESAB EPR-X1.1 Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) ventilation system, providing professionals and hobbyists with a complete set of protective equipment for welding jobs.

Proper protection is crucial in the welding industry, where airborne contaminants pose significant health concerns to employees. Studies have shown that welding fumes are carcinogenic, warranting the use of advanced PPE that can effectively filter particulate matter and provide welders with clean air - something that air-fed helmets are capable of. Additionally, this type of PPE is designed to keep wearers cool and comfortable during work, making it suitable for repeated and prolonged use.

Developed as an upgrade to the Savage A40, the ESAB Savage A41 Air Helmet available from Weldtech UK provides higher visual clarity with True Colour vision technology designed to give welders a brighter view of their workspaces. The helmet also sports a more ergonomic design than its predecessor, rebalancing weight evenly to reduce strain during longer welding jobs. Additionally, to improve ease of use, wearers will have access to a digital control panel that allows for precise shade, sensitivity, and delay settings for different welding methods, as well as LED indicators that will notify the wearer of their current settings and battery levels.

The full set offered on Weldtech UK also includes the ESAB EPR-X1.1 PAPR kit, a high-end ventilation system that effectively filters dust and fumes created during the welding process. With TH3-level particulate protection, the system can block up to 99.8% of particles; it also supports A1B1E1 gas filtration that can be toggled on or off for any applications involving vapours. As an upgrade from previous models, the EPR-X1.1 features smart alerts for low airflow and battery status, along with an extended runtime of up to 10 hours per charge.

The ESAB Savage A41 Air Welding Helmet Package is suitable for MIG/MAG and TIG welding, MMA welding, plasma cutting, gouging, and any grinding work. Weldtech UK also recommends the set for environments with heavy fume exposure, such as shipyards and construction sites, and other applications that require vision and respiratory protection.
