About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marine Toys for Tots' Christmas in July Campaign Delivers Hope to Children in Need

By: NewsUSA

(NewsUSA) - Marine Toys for Tots, best known as the Nation's premier children's Christmastime charity, doesn't wait until the holiday season to support children in need. Toys for Tots has evolved into a year-round force for good, and 2024 marks its fourth annual Christmas in July initiative to bring joy, magic, and hope to underprivileged children across the United States.

"Needs aren't seasonal, and neither is Toys for Tots," says LtGen Jim Laster, USMC (Retired), President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.  "With the rising cost of living and other economic challenges, parents are finding it increasingly difficult to pay bills and put food on their family's table.  Buying toys, books, or games for their children seems completely out of reach," he emphasized. "With the support from our generous donors, we can make sure every child's future is as bright as possible – and deliver the magic of the holiday season in July."

As in previous years, Toys for Tots partners with local nonprofits across the country to deliver hope and emotional support to struggling families who need it the most. Toys for Tots' year-round initiatives, which include Christmas in July and ongoing programs to support children's literacy and children in Foster Care, have become especially valuable as more families struggle with the impact of inflation and other challenging financial circumstances.

Amidst the stress of rising costs for everything from gas, groceries, and other basic necessities, Toys for Tots' year-round programs strive to provide a sense of normalcy and comfort to children in need, with hope for brighter days ahead.

"With every gift that is given, our generous supporters show how much they care about children who face poverty every day of the year. Santa's boots are big ones to fill, but if anyone's up to the task, it is our faithful donors," LtGen Laster adds.

The generosity of the American public makes a significant difference to underserved communities, and especially to children. Every contribution made is a gift of hope to a child in need – and a reminder of a brighter tomorrow.

Celebrate Christmas in July and be part of Toys for Tots' mission as a year-round force for good!
