About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Relativ receives AWS Education Equity Initiative Grant

By: PRLog
PORTLAND, Ore. - July 14, 2025 - PRLog -- Relativ, a pioneering AI-powered conversational analytics company, is proud to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the AWS Education Equity Initiative. With support from the initiative, Relativ aims to create digital learning solutions and democratize access to high-demand job training and interview preparation for students from under-represented and underserved populations worldwide.

Relativ's cutting-edge AI technology supports multilingual participants, providing personalized feedback to enhance their performance in mock interviews. This move is crucial for high school students in under-represented groups, who often face barriers when seeking access to quality education and job training opportunities.

Through this effort, Relativ is already collaborating with several organizations in the AWS Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance to provide mock AI interview practice sessions for technical roles and skills such as cloud support engineering, software development, AI/ML engineering, and more. The initiative's reach spans across Germany, Spain, India, Singapore, Thailand, USA, and other regions.

"We're honored to receive support and guidance from AWS on this critical initiative," said Arjun Nagendran, Co-Founder & CEO of Relativ. "Our AI engine is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that every individual has an equal chance of succeeding in their chosen careers."

"We are proud to support organizations like Relativ that are working tirelessly to advance education equity. Relativ's focus on bespoke AI assistants that offer coaching and prioritize soft-skills in the age of AI are testament to their success in helping individuals become more productive and confident," said Aanya Niaz, Global Leader for Education Equity at Amazon Web Services. "This initiative aligns with our own commitment to providing opportunities for all, and we're excited to see the positive impact it will have on students worldwide."

Relativ's cutting-edge conversational analytics platform, built on AWS, leverages customized AI models to simulate real-world workplace scenarios including technical interviews. This experiential learning enables students to practice and refine their technical and interpersonal skills in a safe, highly scalable virtual training environment, available 24/7, 365, and on-demand. To address concerns about AI misuse, Relativ has numerous safeguards in place, including scenario randomization and AI-generated variation for authentic skill development. Our analytics engine employs multiple measures such as response times and sentence structure, and normalizes results across entire cohorts to detect anomalies and flag suspicious patterns. We also encourage students not to use AI to 'game the system' for personal advantage.

By performing cohort-level analytics, Relativ identifies specific skills gaps and tailors its AI guidance to address them, ensuring that each student receives personalized support to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace readiness.
