About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Goodera Enables Corporate Teams to Volunteer for Global Nonprofits as Part of Campaign #HistoryIsGay

Goodera gathers corporate volunteers to take part in volunteering activities – curated with the support of nonprofit partners – focusing on celebrating the LGBT contribution to history.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Mateo, CA, October 25, 2021:  In early October, Goodera launched its global campaign for the queer community, #HistoryIsGay – Because it definitely doesn’t move in a straight line to bring together individuals, nonprofit organizations, and corporates in celebrating LGBTQ+ contributions. As part of the celebrations, Goodera organized virtual volunteering initiatives and discussions with nonprofit leaders and philanthropists that support the queer community.

Starting in 1994, the month of October is observed as the LBGT History Month, which aims to highlight and celebrate the achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and the significant contribution they’ve made to society.

“The community has the ability to stand for itself and continue our road for equality. That’s the impact our volunteers make – our donors are just as valuable and just as important to us to make sure we have the ability to preserve that history,” says Jennifer C. Gregg, Executive Director, One Archives Foundation. “Over the years, celebrating Pride has grown, not just in numbers within the LGBTQ community, but in popularity. This is wonderful but also presents a few problems. While we stand by watching corporations selectively jump on the bandwagon for a few weeks, the LGBTQ community has to live our truth and support each other all year long. The first reason, why Pride matters, is because everybody should feel comfortable and safe being themselves wherever they are.”

The campaign #HistoryIsGay – Because it definitely doesn’t move in a straight line enables employee volunteers from Goodera’s list of corporate clients to choose from Goodera’s curated volunteering experiences, schedule a time that works for them, and volunteer to make an impact.

To celebrate LGBTQ+ histories and achievements, Goodera partnered with 12 nonprofits to:

Design 10 virtual volunteering opportunities for corporate volunteers. These experiences range from storytelling sessions with the LGBTQ+ community to advocating for LGBTQ+ people through inspiring videos. Raise voices of the nonprofits and their cause. Goodera interacted with nonprofits through exclusive interviews and panel discussions to highlight the issues faced by the community. The discussions are featured on Goodera’s platforms.

As part of the campaign, 100% of Goodera’s nonprofit partners who work to uplift the queer community, booked 60+ hours of overall volunteer participation, engaging a total of 1200 corporate volunteers and raising funds through the Dollars of Doers program – June through September.

“I would also advise finding places where you can support trans youth, particularly black and brown population, who are at a higher risk of homelessness and are targets of violence and abuse,” says Michelle Larned, Director, Hingham Pride Project. “There is another really great activity which is providing books that are from black and brown LGBTQ+ authors. It does not only show children themselves in a book but also shows other children that everybody can be represented in a book.”

Encouraged by the success of the #HistoryIsGay campaign, Goodera has launched its portfolio of events for October to focus on breast cancer awareness and raise awareness on mental health issues.
