Laser Focus World is an industry bedrock—first published in 1965 and still going strong. We publish original articles about cutting-edge advances in lasers, optics, photonics, sensors, and quantum technologies, as well as test and measurement, and the shift currently underway to usher in the photonic integrated circuits, optical interconnects, and copackaged electronics and photonics to deliver the speed and efficiency essential for data centers of the future.

Our 80,000 qualified print subscribers—and 130,000 12-month engaged online audience—trust us to dive in and provide original journalism you won’t find elsewhere covering key emerging areas such as laser-driven inertial confinement fusion, lasers in space, integrated photonics, chipscale lasers, LiDAR, metasurfaces, high-energy laser weaponry, photonic crystals, and quantum computing/sensors/communications. We cover the innovations driving these markets.

Alkermes in Action: Giving Tuesday

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Alkermes

DESCRIPTION:

This #GivingTuesday we recognize the many employees who take time to support members of our communities who are in need. More than 10 years ago, we launched Alkermes in Action, an annual employee volunteer program designed to support volunteer efforts within our local communities:

In 2020, as COVID magnified the issue of food insecurity, our employees transformed their long-running partnership with Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen in Waltham, MA by delivering pre-packaged meals to community members in need. At the same time, our company donated to Feeding America’s COVID-19 response fund and focused on supporting students at risk of food insecurity by donating to Healthy Waltham and the Wilmington School District in Ohio, both efforts aimed at providing needed food to students who normally depend on meals at school.

In Ireland, our history of volunteerism continued, with employees organizing a virtual 5k race in partnership with Pieta House to support people of all ages that are suicidal or at risk of self-harm. We were also proud to support Daffodil Day, the Irish Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser by matching employee contributions to this event, which raises funds each year for cancer research and support in Ireland.

These examples, along with countless others, underscore our fundamental commitment to provide opportunities for employees to give back. In the last ten years, more than 5,000 volunteers have worked with dozens of organizations in service of supporting their local communities. #ALKSInThisTogether
