Georgia-Pacific Helps Temiskaming Hospital Exceed Fundraising Expectations

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Georgia-Pacific

DESCRIPTION:

NEW LISKEARD, Ontario, May 13, 2022 /3BL Media/ The Temiskaming Hospital Foundation held their 8th Annual Radiothon to raise $50,000 for a new operating table for the hospital.

The Radiothon ended with over $12,000 raised. The Englehart, Ontario Georgia-Pacific Oriented Strand Board (OSB) mill heard about the cause and donated $38,000 to help the foundation reach its goal.

Approximately 1,000 surgical cases and 150 Cesarean sections are performed annually at Temiskaming Hospital. “That is why it is so impressive that Georgia-Pacific has come forward,” said Temiskaming Hospital Foundation Secretary and Temiskaming Hospital President & CEO Mike Baker. He continued, “People from these communities will benefit from the operating room tables at the Temiskaming Hospital, so it is great to see Georgia-Pacific’s leadership in making such an important contribution to Care Close to Home and our communities.”

In addition to the proceeds from the Radiothon, the foundation has raised over $316,000, allowing for purchasing the operating table, an infant pediatric ventilator, three ECG machines, infant care beds, and pulmonary function testing mechanical ventilator and an ultrasound machine.

Due to the pandemic, in-person events were canceled for the last two years, and the foundation’s 50/50 fundraiser became the primary source of revenue. Georgia-Pacific is happy to exhibit stewardship in the New Liskeard community by giving back. “Georgia-Pacific knows strong communities make life better for everyone: our employees, neighbors, and customers,” said Jason Stewart, plant manager. “The social and economic well-being of citizens is essential to the sustainability of our communities, and Georgia-Pacific is proud to support such a worthy cause that benefits the community and our employees.”
