2024 Paris Olympics AC-free: discover the power of heat pump cooling

The 2024 Paris Olympics is set to be a landmark event in environmental sustainability, aiming to halve its carbon footprint and raise global awareness about the urgent need to combat climate change.

The Severity of Global Warming

Global warming stands as one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. Recent data shows that the Earth's average temperature has risen by approximately 1 degree Celsius over the past few decades, with a continuing trend leading to increased frequency of extreme weather events, accelerated glacier melting, rising sea levels, among other critical issues. Addressing these challenges, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo stated, "I want the Paris Olympics to be seen as a model in terms of environmental protection." She is committed to a ambitious action plan to tackle climate change, aiming for significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality for the "City of Light" by 2050. She noted that compared to traditional projects, the carbon emissions during the construction phase and throughout the Olympic cycle will be reduced by 45%. The Paris Olympics promises to halve its carbon emissions through a series of innovative measures, including the use of environmental technologies and reduction of carbon emissions, making it one of the most environmentally friendly Olympics ever, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint.

Environmental Technology Showcase at the Paris Olympic Village

The 2024 Paris Olympic Village, as a model of environmental technology, is located in the northern suburbs of Paris and utilizes a "water cooling system" for cooling. Utilizing a cooling system that uses natural resources and groundwater similar to the Louvre Museum. Specifically, under the floor of the athletes' dormitories, water pipes are laid to access deep underground water (which can be cooled to a temperature of 4°C) to achieve physical cooling. These building complexes' geothermal cooling systems not only effectively reduce energy consumption but also reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, providing sustainable solutions for future building designs.

Challenges and Solutions: Heat Pump Technology

Despite installing 2,500 temporary cooling devices at the Olympic Village to support geothermal cooling systems, some countries still choose to bring their own portable air conditioners. The United States was the first to emphasize the need for portable air conditioners, and Australia emphasized "we are not picnicking." As a more stable and environmentally friendly cooling system, heat pumps emerge as the best choice. Using R290 commercial refrigerators that are environmentally friendly, its carbon emissions are equivalent to one-third of those of traditional refrigerants, making it one of the most environmentally friendly choices to date. This technology not only aligns with the green, environmental, and sustainable ideals of the Paris Olympics but also sets an example for global action against climate change, ensuring that athletes from various countries have a good rest environment, facing solutions to heat waves.

Commercial and Residential Cooling Systems

As a leading company dedicated to environmental technology, Solareast leads the innovation of commercial heating units in heating and cooling. Our products not only provide efficient heating solutions but also demonstrate the leading technology of air heat pumps in cooling, providing reliable environmental choices for enterprises and public buildings. Soalreast's R290 commercial and residential refrigeration machines not only significantly improve efficiency, but also reach the highest level of environmental standards, especially in commercial applications, contributing to breakthrough technical solutions for global emission reductions.

We are calling for more heating and cooling systems to use air to water heat pumps to promote green and sustainable practices.
