Manna Educational Services International Embraces The Age of Social Media

Inspirational Teaching Group Acknowledges Positive Influence In Online Culture

STAR, ID / ACCESSWIRE / February 1, 2022 / The rise of social media in the mid-2000s created transformative cultural change. The "Big Four" - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram - reimagined how we communicate, learn, work, play and worship. Then, in 2021 a dark side of social media was exposed when Congress questioned a major whistleblower.

On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, Frances Haugen, a former Facebook employee, appeared before a Senate subcommittee with accusations the social media giant deliberately hid and dismissed research that shows its platform was harmful to adolescents. It's all about making money, she said. "As long as Facebook is operating in the shadows, hiding its research from public scrutiny, it is unaccountable." Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg dismissed Haugen's claims. However, The American Journal of Psychiatry Residents Journal cites a body of emerging research that shows that social media may be addictive.

Manna Educational Services International, says while social media may have some negative consequences, if monitored correctly, overall, it's a positive influence. "It's brought family, friends, clubs, churches, and neighborhoods together. It's proved invaluable during times of disaster, crisis, or trouble. It's been helpful during the pandemic to create connection and community."

Dr. Rick Chromey, Founder and President, says there is one long-term benefit to social media that's overlooked. "Social media is building a "people's history" of "who we are." On Facebook, there's a feature called "Memories" that reminds users of what they posted, historically, on any particular day. YouTube is a treasure trove of historical videos. From short clips to long documentaries, this social media platform is cataloging our past, video by video."

Manna Educational Services International cites Google Books, currently digitizing source works significant and helpful to historians. Dr. Chromey says, "these free downloadable books enable any history student to discern the past, even history that's contrary to current popular narratives. They provide invaluable teaching tools for students."

"Social media is challenging us to reimagine how we educate," Dr. Chromey says. "We need to move from "content dumps" to critical thinking, from lectures to conversations. Thanks again to the Internet, the amount of information available to us is doubling every few years. It's an exciting time."

Manna Educational Services International believes the negative consequences of social media are outweighed by its positive contributions to humanity. Dr. Chromey says, not only does it connect us and create community, but social media also carves a social history that we'll eventually appreciate. It's "we the people's" history.
