NEI General Contracting Condemns Vandalization at The Pryde

New England's first LGBTQ-friendly senior affordable housing complex

BOSTON, MA / ACCESSWIRE / July 12, 2022 / NEI General Contracting condemns the vandalization at its job site in Hyde Park, a neighborhood of Boston, for The Pryde, New England's first LGBTQ-friendly senior affordable housing complex.

NEI General Contracting, Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Press release picture

"We are disgusted by the messages spray painted on the signage outside our job site and we are cooperating with the investigation by the Boston Police Department," said Josef Rettman, president of NEI General Contracting. "The hateful and homophobic messages discovered over the weekend have no place on our job site or anywhere in the communities where we work so hard to develop much-needed affordable housing. Today, more than ever, we need to come together and recognize that is' our diversity that makes us stronger. NEI focuses on building for good and we stand united with the LGBTQ community. This will not impact our work on The Pryde. If anything, it deepens our resolve as it shows the importance of developing safe housing for LGBTQ seniors."

The Pryde is a joint development by Pennrose and LGBTQ Senior Housing Inc. NEI General Contracting was hired as the construction manager to convert the former William Barton Rogers School into 74 units of accessible mixed-income housing for seniors. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.
