Justin Brewer Advocates for Transparency in Payment Processing

Greenhub CEO urges small business owners to cut hidden costs and take control of their financial futures

SOMERS, CT / ACCESS Newswire / October 15, 2025 / Justin Brewer, Founder and CEO of Greenhub and recent Vegas Inc 40 Under 40 honoree, is using his platform to raise awareness about the growing burden of payment processing fees on small and mid-sized businesses.

"Too many business owners don't even know what they're paying," said Brewer. "Payment processing is one of those hidden costs that can drain your bottom line without you realizing it. If you understand it, you can take back control."

A Costly Problem for Small Business

According to the Nilson Report, U.S. merchants paid over $160 billion in processing fees in 2022, a number that continues to rise as electronic payments dominate consumer spending. For many small businesses, these fees are second only to payroll and rent in monthly expenses.

Brewer stresses that the issue isn't just financial-it's structural. "The lack of transparency is what hurts entrepreneurs the most," he explained. "When you don't know what you're really paying, you can't make informed decisions for your business."

From the Field to Finance

Brewer's call to action is rooted in the discipline he learned as a four-year NCAA Division I soccer starter at Sacred Heart University. "Sports taught me resilience and focus," he shared. "That mindset helps me as an entrepreneur-pay attention to the small details, because they add up to big results."

Beyond Business: Advocating for Freedom

Brewer also links the conversation to broader issues of independence and entrepreneurship. He is developing a merchant services course aimed at giving aspiring entrepreneurs practical tools to build residual income and escape traditional corporate paths.

"I want people to know they have options," Brewer said. "You don't need to be stuck in a system that doesn't work for you. The first step is understanding your costs, then creating a plan that gives you freedom and flexibility."

A Call to Action

Brewer encourages all business owners to start with a simple step: review their payment processing statements. "Don't wait for someone else to fix it for you," he advised. "Sit down, look at your numbers, and ask questions. Knowledge is power, and in business, it can be the difference between surviving and thriving."
