Windstream Expands Presence in Evansville With Warehouse in Vanderburgh Industrial Park

Windstream, a privately held communications and software company, announced today that it will lease a 150,000-square-foot warehouse in the Vanderburgh Industrial Park. The company, which already operates a warehouse in Evansville, needs the additional space to accommodate growing customer demand for its premium broadband, entertainment and security services.

The lease was brokered by Woodward Commercial Realty, Inc., and developed by Woodward Development and Construction, Inc.

“We are excited to partner with Woodward, the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners and the Vanderburgh Industrial Park,” said Mark Reed, chief procurement officer for Windstream. “With the growing demand for broadband, we recently announced a new engineering and construction organization to manage a nearly $2 billion expansion of our 18-state fiber network, and this new facility will help support that initiative. We chose Evansville because of our excellent relationship with the community and because it enables us to leverage the talented workforce at our existing warehouse in the city.”

"Business growth is a testament to community economic growth, and today's announcement exemplifies another step on the path to growing Vanderburgh County and expanding opportunity for job creation and a more prosperous community on the whole," said Ben Shoulders, president, Vanderburgh County Commission.

“The entire Woodward team is honored to have been a part of this successful community project helping to attract the Windstream project to the Evansville region,” said Evan Beck, president of Woodward Commercial Realty, Inc., and Woodward Development and Construction, Inc. “This project represents a retention and expansion project made possible by the leadership of the Vanderburgh County Commissioners and Evansville Industrial Foundation. Woodward is expected to complete the final build-out of the 150,000-square-foot shell building per Windstream’s specifications by mid-September 2021.”
