Belden Honored as Top 3 Organization in IDC’s Future of Intelligence North America Award

Company Achieved Increased Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Digitization Improvements

Belden Inc. (NYSE: BDC), a leading global supplier of network infrastructure and digitization solutions, has been named among the top 3 winners in IDC’s 2023 Future Enterprise Best in Future of Intelligence North America Awards. Belden’s winning digitization project was implemented at its own Richmond, Indiana plant, leading to double-digit productivity improvements.

IDC, a renowned market intelligence and advisory firm, has lauded Belden for its exceptional contributions to the field of intelligent technologies and its forward-thinking approach in reshaping the landscape of network and data management. This award recognizes organizations that have made impactful positive changes to their enterprise intelligence through innovations in how information is synthesized, how they learn from these insights and share those learnings across the organization, how they deliver insights at scale, and how they develop and promote a data culture.

In Belden’s winning entry, the company highlighted success within a 95-year-old manufacturing plant, which sought to improve efficiency while gaining real-time visibility. Belden created a vendor-agnostic platform that involved various control technologies, collected operational data via sensors throughout the plant and provided a shared data plane for analytics and visualization.

This platform enabled plant personnel to make data-driven decisions, improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and productivity. The solution also helped detect anomalies and alert the appropriate team, enabling predictive maintenance. IT and OT stakeholders were involved in the project, ensuring operational and security needs were met.

Belden empowers customers to leverage their data to gain key insights that lead to positive outcomes – and this initiative had that same goal. Through this solution, the company ensured future-readiness and favorable business outcomes, including:

  • Estimated annual savings of at least $500,000 with a short payback period of about 15 months
  • Improved data visibility, sharing and collaboration
  • Capability to drill down into operational data for root cause analysis

“We are honored to be recognized by IDC as one of the top three organizations in the Future of Intelligence North America Award category,” said Doug Brenneke, VP Operations, Americas. “With Belden’s solution, the plant was able to resolve operational challenges, as well as develop the framework for future optimization and growth.”

This accolade signifies Belden’s commitment to driving innovation and paving the way for the next generation of intelligent networking solutions. The Future of Intelligence Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, vision and innovation in the development and deployment of intelligent technologies.
