Tyler Technologies Announces Veterans Service Officers Excellence Award Winners

First annual awards program recognizes outstanding Veterans Service Officers

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced five winners of its first annual Veterans Service Officers (VSO) Excellence Awards.

These awards recognize outstanding Veterans Service Officers and Offices who are users of Tyler’s Veterans’ Benefits and VetraSpec solutions. These VSOs provide exemplary service to those who have served in our nation’s armed forces, helping veterans more easily access all the benefits they have earned through their military service.

“Tyler is honored to recognize the winners of our first annual VSO Excellence Awards,” said Brian Combs, president of Tyler’s Platform Solutions Division. “These winners show an exceptional level of compassion and commitment to the veterans in their care. We are impressed by the caliber of award submissions we received, which included detailed stories of how these VSOs support their community of veterans. Tyler is honored to support these dedicated public servants with software applications to help them more effectively serve those who have served.”

The VSO Excellence Award winners are:

  • Exceptional Outreach Award: Jessica McClellan, Stark County, North Dakota. Jessica has been instrumental in building a Veterans Memorial and a large Veterans Pavilion, which seats 160 people for various events and gatherings. She was also heavily involved in getting the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Vietnam Wall set up at the Stark County Veterans Memorial Park.
  • All-Star Community Advocate Award: Denise Formolo, Dickinson County, Michigan. Denise collaborated with her local congressperson to propose a law be amended so that veterans who receive hospice care at home rather than at a VA facility during their final days can still receive burial benefits.
  • Innovative Community Support Award: Bryan T. Brown, Chisago County, Minnesota. Bryan created an innovative “Veterans’ Coffee Talk” program to ensure that local veterans are aware of up-to-date VA information. He constantly strives to improve the working relationship with the Veterans Advocates throughout the VA system and works with his own staff to support their career goals to help better all of Chisago County.
  • Software Superstar: Kenneth Kumle, Commission on Veterans Affairs Office, Kansas. Kenneth is the subject matter expert for veterans benefits in Kansas, training all new veteran service representatives because of his expertise and patience when dealing with new personnel. In addition, he operates the busiest of 15 field officers in Kansas.
  • Awesome Organization: Livingston County, Michigan. The Livingston County Veteran Services team has expanded to support 4,500 veterans in one year and are on track for a record number of claims and appeals submitted in a single year. One VSO was named County Employee of the Quarter, and another was recognized as the top VSO in Michigan. The team attended 28 outreach events and created two more this year.

Tyler’s Veterans’ Benefits and VetraSpec solutions have processed Department of Veterans Affairs claims for almost half of the nearly 19 million American veterans living today. Thirty-seven states, more than 300 counties, and more than 4,500 VSOs rely on Tyler software to process veterans’ benefits claims daily.
