Avangrid Named One of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens of 2024

Avangrid ranked #3 for Utilities

Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, was recently recognized by 3BL, a leading sustainability communications partner, as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens of 2024. This prestigious ranking acknowledges Avangrid’s exceptional commitment to environmental, social, and governance transparency and performance among the largest public companies in the United States.

The ranking evaluates publicly-available data from 1,000 of the largest U.S. publicly-traded companies. Avangrid was ranked #3 across Utilities. The full list can be found here.

“This recognition as one of the nation’s best corporate citizens is testament to our commitment to finding sustainable solutions, reducing emissions, and improving the lives of our customers and employees,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “We are creating a more modern, reliable, and resilient energy grid that will support the communities we serve for years to come, while accelerating the energy transition with innovative, renewable energy projects that are powering the country.”

“We are proud of all the teams at Avangrid that work every day to help us advance a just and equitable transition to a clean energy future,” said Laney Brown, vice president of sustainability at Avangrid. “This award reflects our commitment to transparency in reporting, and to the actions Avangrid is taking to ensure our key stakeholders – from customers and communities to employees and the environment – are supported in the transition to a clean energy economy.”

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking evaluates Russell 1,000 companies based on 223 factors across seven pillars, including climate change, employee relations, environment, governance, human rights, and stakeholders and society. The 2024 methodology developed by 3BL and ISS ESG introduced new factors to measure progress on key issues such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water use, and workforce diversity to reflect modern best practices for performance and disclosure.

"Celebrating 25 years of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens, it’s clear the competition for leadership has never been tougher, and the stakes for progress have never been higher," said Charlie Wilkie, CEO of 3BL. "With new metrics this year addressing critical areas like emissions and workforce diversity, the 2024 list highlights companies that are setting new standards for transparency and delivering measurable outcomes. As expectations for corporate action grow, these companies are not just setting ambitious goals — they’re also achieving tangible results. Looking ahead, we’re committed to evolving this index, pushing businesses to demonstrate even greater accountability and impact."

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens relies solely on publicly available data and information. The data and information used for the 2024 ranking were published between August 2023 and August 2024.
