Teradata AI Unlimited in Microsoft Fabric is Now Available for Public Preview through Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub

Immediate access to the powerful, highly scalable AI/ML functions of ClearScape Analytics, in a serverless, on-demand compute engine that integrates natively with Fabric and OneLake

MICROSOFT IGNITE – Teradata (NYSE: TDC) today announced that Teradata AI Unlimited is now available for public preview through the Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub. Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub allows customers to discover and add new ISV offered capabilities to their Fabric environment. AI Unlimited in Microsoft Fabric is a serverless compute engine that was designed to speed up Trusted AI innovations delivered at enterprise scale. It features Teradata’s robust analytics functionality, ClearScape Analytics, which is now available to all customers, even to those who do not use Teradata VantageCloud.

Developers, data scientists and data engineers often rely on their organization’s IT department to allocate compute resources for AI exploration and experimentation. This is cumbersome and time consuming, so many prefer self-service sandboxes that are independent of production systems to create and test new models. By taking the Teradata engine out of the enterprise deployment and making it accessible in Fabric, Teradata is eliminating infrastructure complexity and delivering serverless environments with ClearScape functionality.

With AI Unlimited now in public preview, users can trial Teradata AI Unlimited from the Fabric Workload Hub, apply analytic functions without any impact to their production Teradata ecosystem, use open data formats in OneLake, and leverage open table format architectures for maximum interoperability with other tools. Environments can be spun down when not in use, reducing costs. If the experimentation is trusted and successful, the workload can be easily moved into production in a Teradata enterprise environment, providing a quick path to business value from AI.

“Teradata’s analytics are well known to be among the most scalable and comprehensive in the industry and AI Unlimited’s SaaS offering provides broad access to these capabilities without the need to go through a long procurement or migration cycle. The public preview of AI Unlimited for Fabric demonstrates Teradata’s commitment to enable trusted AI/ML innovation for developers everywhere. We encourage fans of Microsoft Fabric to access our free trial in the Workload Hub and evaluate Teradata’s AI/ML features for themselves, leveraging core Microsoft Fabric services like OneLake,” said Dan Spurling, SVP of Product Management at Teradata.

The Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub allows users to browse, explore, and manage various workloads from ISVs. The hub allows users to discover capabilities and add functionalities to their Fabric environment.

“Microsoft customers are among the world’s most innovative companies, and as they embrace Microsoft Fabric, we want to provide them a range of engines and capabilities they can use on their data including AI/ML engines like Teradata AI Unlimited,” said Dipti Borkar, Vice President & General Manager, Fabric Strategic ISV & Data Developer Experience at Microsoft. “Developers, data scientists and data engineers want to explore and run experiments on vast amounts of data as a part of building AI models, including evaluating accuracy and bias.”

Teradata AI Unlimited in Fabric leverages OneLake's ability to create shortcuts to data across cloud object stores, including outside of Fabric and Azure. This enables immediate availability of data for customers to begin taking advantage of more than 150 ClearScape Analytics functions without the time or expense of moving data for each workload experience. The serverless environment retains Teradata’s legendary scalability, providing the ability to process multiple, billion-row datasets concurrently, so that data engineers can explore and prepare large datasets in OneLake without requiring or impacting compute resources on their production Teradata environment.

Teradata is also including an integrated SQL notebook with pre-defined use cases in their AI Unlimited Workload. These use cases expedite AI/ML model building by providing developers with rapid-start templates for ideation in the areas of financial customer journey, customer segmentation, and data preparation.

Availability

A free trail of Teradata AI Unlimited via Fabric is available for public preview through the Fabric Workload Hub. The SaaS offer meets Microsoft Fabric SDK design requirements – reducing friction for end users who want to evaluate and purchase through the Fabric Workload Hub ISV marketplace when it is generally availability in 2025.
