Esri Federal GIS Conference Keynotes Include Senior White House Adviser John Podesta and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Deputy Director Tonya Wilkerson

FedGIS Expects to Welcome 5,000 Attendees, the Largest Event of its Kind

On February 14, 2024, Esri, the global leader in geographic information system (GIS) technology, is hosting the Federal GIS Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.

At this year’s conference, John Podesta, the Senior Adviser to the President for International Climate Policy, The White House, and Tonya Wilkerson, Deputy Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Recently, John Podesta was named senior adviser to the president for international climate policy replacing outgoing U.S. special climate envoy John F. Kerry. Currently, Podesta oversees implementation of Biden’s signature climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act. The law devoted billions of dollars to accelerating the nation’s transition to wind, solar, and other sources of clean energy. Podesta also played a critical role in brokering the 2015 Paris climate agreement as a counselor to President Barack Obama and helped steer President Bill Clinton’s environmental policies while serving as White House chief of staff.

Also keynoting on Wednesday, February 14 is Deputy Director Tonya P. Wilkerson, the ninth deputy director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Having worked more than thirty years in the Intelligence Community, Wilkerson has experience across multiple mission areas and deep expertise in the space sector. From February to November 2021, Ms. Wilkerson served as the Associate Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency for Science and Technology/Strategy. She has held multiple prominent positions within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) spanning a range of activities, including research and development, acquisitions, and operations, as well as simultaneous leadership roles in the NRO and CIA’s Directorate of Science & Technology (DS&T).
