Kinetic’s Project ‘Gas Pedal’ Increases Customer Internet Speeds for Free

  • Free Internet-speed upgrades to eligible customers, enhancing their online experience significantly.
  • More than 314,000 Kinetic customers have benefited from increased speeds since 2018.
  • Kinetic increased speeds for Arkansas Customers in 2024 by 54,000 megabits for free.

Kinetic, a leader in residential and small business fiber-internet service, significantly upgraded its technology and infrastructure resulting in an increase in internet speed for more than 26,000 customers in 2024.

Since “Project Gas Pedal’s” launch in 2018, Kinetic has increased more than 314,000 customers’ speeds across its 18-state footprint. In 2024 alone, Kinetic successfully increased speeds by a cumulative total of more than 1.3 million Mbps, the equivalent of 1-million 10-second Snapchats or 8 million emails, showcasing the project's impact. In Arkansas, over 900 customers were upgraded with a net gain of over 54,000 megabits of speed in households across the state.

“When our network experiences technical upgrades, we want our customers to be informed of the speeds available to them,” said Allan Pieroni, Kinetic associate director of product. “This initiative allows customers to experience free speed increases that can improve a customer’s internet experience, and overall quality of life by enhancing experiences, like streaming, gaming, and telehealth.”

A key component of this initiative is the use of advanced provisioning profiles, which enable Kinetic to configure and allocate network resources efficiently as new technologies come online. This ensures that even speed boosts are optimized for maximum effectiveness, allowing customers to fully experience the benefits of enhanced connectivity.

Key Highlights of Project Gas Pedal:

  • Wide-Reaching Impact: Over 314,000 customers have benefited from speed upgrades since the project's launch, with customers receiving an average increase of over 10 megabits per household.
  • Complimentary Upgrades: This service is provided at no additional cost to customers.
  • Broad Eligibility: An average of 45,000 customers a year have been upgraded to the fastest speeds available based on the technology at their residences. The number of annual upgrades is now declining as the number of customers served by copper cables decreases.

Most eligible customers will receive free upgrades without a technician visiting their homes. However, in some cases, a technician visit may be necessary to increase speeds. When this occurs, customers will be contacted by a Kinetic customer service representative to schedule a visit.

“Kinetic is proud to offer these free upgrades as part of our ongoing commitment to deliver the best possible service to our customers,” said Ben Midanek, Kinetic’s chief marketing officer. "Through ‘Gas Pedal,’ we’re not only improving internet speeds but also reinforcing our promise to support our communities with reliable and fast connectivity."
