Motorola Solutions Cloud Technologies Earn Highest FedRAMP Authorization Level

U.S. government agencies can procure and deploy radios and cloud-based applications pre-approved to handle sensitive government data

Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) today announced it has received the highest-level security authorization from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®) for its federal cloud. This FedRAMP High Authorization allows federal agencies to more quickly and seamlessly procure and deploy select Motorola Solutions cloud software, APX-series radios and APX radio applications which have already undergone the government’s rigorous testing process.

“Federal missions, operations and logistics are varied and complex, requiring resilient, scalable and highly secure communication solutions,” said Joe Balchune, vice president, Federal Markets, Motorola Solutions. “Federal agencies can now procure our purpose-built cloud solutions with confidence knowing that the way our technology handles sensitive, unclassified data has been assigned FedRAMP’s highest security authorization. State and local agencies also have the assurance that our technologies have been thoroughly tested to meet FedRAMP High federal security standards.”

The authorization includes Motorola Solutions’ APX-series radios and select APX radio applications, as well as the integration of these products with CommandCentral Aware cloud software. These technologies help to enhance connectivity, coordination and safety for government personnel.

  • APX-series radios combine mission-critical Project 25 (P25) radio communications with broadband capabilities that are designed to extend coverage, improve situational awareness and significantly reduce the time and resources needed to provision and update radio fleets.
  • APX radio applications, hosted in the cloud, include: SmartConnect, which enables voice communications to seamlessly switch between land mobile radio and broadband networks to help users maintain connectivity; SmartLocate, which displays up-to-date location and status of officers in the field; and RadioCentral and SmartProgramming, which allow administrators to send updates directly and securely to radios, removing the significant downtime associated with physically returning radios to the station.
  • CommandCentral Aware unifies real-time data and video streams into a secure common operational view, automating analysis to help surface critical insights and inform responders in the field.

FedRAMP is a federal government security and risk assessment standard that facilitates the evaluation and adoption of cloud-based solutions for federal agencies while validating the rigor of a company’s security controls and processes for entities like state and local governments. View Motorola Solutions’ FedRAMP marketplace page or website for a full list of authorized radios, applications and software.
