CareScout Partners with Dr. Judy Benjamin on Her Walk Across America

80-year-old embarks on 3,000+-mile journey to champion the power of action in healthy aging

On Saturday, April 5, Judy Benjamin, PhD, a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, will take her first steps on the more than 3,000-mile journey across the country to raise awareness for alternative ways to stay healthy at any age. Over five months, she will walk from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, following the Adventure Cycling Association Southern Tier route.

Dr. Benjamin’s journey is not only a personal challenge but also a powerful statement about the importance of proactive health and wellness. Diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s at the age of 67, she took charge of her health through lifestyle changes, becoming a certified wellness coach and yoga therapist. Today, she is healthier than ever and dedicated to educating others on ways to enhance cognitive health and overall well-being.

“When I received my diagnosis, I had a choice—I could let it define me, or I could take action,” said Dr. Benjamin. “I want people to see that no matter your age or circumstance, there are steps you can take to live a healthier, more vibrant life. This walk is about proving that possibility.”

CareScout, a leader in long-term care and aging solutions, is proud to partner with and support Dr. Benjamin on this journey. This collaboration reflects and reinforces CareScout’s commitment to empowering individuals and families with the knowledge and resources to plan for aging with confidence and dignity.

“Judy’s journey is a powerful testament to the idea that aging isn’t just about getting older—it’s about moving forward with purpose,” said Samir Shah, CEO, CareScout Services. “Her walk is inspiring to the millions of Americans who know the challenges of Alzheimer’s all too well. At CareScout, we’re proud to stand beside her and remain committed to helping families plan ahead with confidence and clarity.”

To document her journey and inspire others, Dr. Benjamin will be accompanied by a film crew, capturing her experiences on the road, interactions with communities, and insights on aging with strength, purpose, and intention. The upcoming documentary will shine a light on the power of staying active, engaged, and informed about long-term care planning.
