South China Agricultural University is a national "first-rate universities and disciplines" construction university. There is an academic master's degree program in design, as well as a field in radio and television The professional master's degree program in the fields of art design and music is one of the colleges in China with a relatively complete range of art disciplines. 

The Fashion and Fashion Design major at the College of Arts of South China Agricultural University has been established for 27 years since 1996. It is one of the earliest universities in Guangdong to offer the fashion design major. In 2010, it hosted over the official uniform design project of the 16th Asian Games and was awarded the Best Design Award by the Asian Organizing Committee; In 2010, it was rated as a characteristic major in clothing design in universities in Guangdong Province; In 2013, Guangdong Provincial Innovation Design Engineering Technology Research and Development Center was established; In 2021, it was rated as a first-class undergraduate major in Guangdong Province.
