New Political Thriller Unveils America's Struggle for Global Leadership and Unity in a Post-Pandemic World
In his gripping debut novel, “Inheritance of Crises and Dysfunction,” acclaimed lawyer and former executive James J. Maiwurm delves into the complex and turbulent landscape of post-2020 America.

Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the divisive 2020 election "Inheritance of Crises and Dysfunction" is a political fiction novel that follows protagonist Salt Staunton Pepper, a retired lawyer pulled back into diplomatic service to help restore America’s global leadership.

Maiwurm draws upon his extensive experience in international law, government, and business to craft a narrative that blends real-world issues with compelling fiction. The novel tackles pressing topics such as the Black Lives Matter movement, economic instability, and toxic domestic politics, all while exploring the deep personal challenges that come with loss, aging, and the need to remain connected in a changing world.

At the heart of “Inheritance of Crises and Dysfunction” is Salt Staunton Pepper, a widower who thinks his days of public service are behind him. However, when an old friend assumes the role of Secretary of State in a new administration, Salt is thrust into a covert mission to mend fractured relationships with key international allies. As Salt travels from the White House to the capitals of Europe, he faces high-stakes negotiations that could redefine America’s role on the global stage.

More than just a political thriller, the novel dives into the emotional journey of its protagonist, exploring the trauma of losing a spouse, the pain of uprooting a life, and the psychological need to find relevance in later years.

Early praise for the book has been resounding. Clarion Reviews calls it “a novel that highlights the struggles ahead, educating readers on vital topics while envisioning a more united future for America.” Through its engaging and educational narrative, “Inheritance of Crises and Dysfunction” invites readers to reflect on the challenges facing not only the U.S. but the entire world and the hope for a more unified and resilient future.

Don't miss out on “Inheritance of Crises and Dysfunction,” a thought-provoking novel that tackles some of today’s most pressing issues. Whether you prefer to dive into a paperback or enjoy a Kindle read on the go, you can get your copy today on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
