Servant Stage Earns a Four-Star Rating From Charity Navigator
Servant Stage shines in a stellar performance, celebrating its four-star Charity Navigator rating for exceptional transparency and community service
Servant Stage reveals top Charity Navigator rating, highlighting its dedication to fiscal responsibility and transparent operations

Charity Navigator has awarded its highest 4-star rating to Servant Stage, an organization that brings the performing arts to the Central Pennsylvania region with an innovative model of accessibility. This rating designates Servant Stage as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, based on its exceptional fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency. Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest independent nonprofit evaluator, providing donors with thorough and credible ratings of more than 230,000 organizations. Since 2001, the organization has been an unbiased and trusted source of information for more than 11 million donors annually.

"We see transparency and trust as vital to sustainability," said Johnathan Bauer, Executive Director. "Every dollar donated represents active participation in our mission, and we take stewardship seriously. This Charity Navigator rating validates what the Servant Stage community has long appreciated—our dedication to accountability and impact."

Charity Navigator analyzes overall nonprofit health and performance based on four key areas: Leadership & Adaptability to help donors understand if a charity has clarity of purpose, Accountability & Finance to explain if they are transparent and fiscally capable, Culture & Community to show how they engage with their constituents, and Impact & Results to explain what they have accomplished.

“We are delighted to provide Servant Stage with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The 4-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that Servant Stage can accomplish in the years ahead.”

Servant Stage’s mission is to serve the community with outstanding musical and theatrical experiences, making the arts accessible to all, especially people with financial or physical limitations. In 2024, Servant Stage accomplished this mission by reaching over 54,000 audience members with pay-what-you-will performances, bringing over 180 performances into the community to retirement homes, schools, churches, parks, and other venues, and making theatrical experiences accessible to many who might not get to experience live theater.

Founded in 2013, Servant Stage is a nonprofit theater company dedicated to bringing exceptional performances to audiences across the region. As the only theater in our region to offer every single production as pay-what-you-will, Servant Stage removes financial barriers, making high-quality entertainment accessible to everyone. Since its founding, the company has reached tens of thousands of patrons annually through diverse productions ranging from Broadway-style musicals to thought-provoking dramas and family-friendly shows. With a mission to inspire, educate, challenge, and entertain, Servant Stage engages with the community through educational outreach and performances in schools, senior centers, and other local venues.
