Chinese Beverage Brand XiangPiaopiao Meco Gains Popularity at Moscow International Food Exhibition, Records Rapid Growth in Russia

By: Get News

MOSCOW - Chinese juice tea brand Meco, produced by Xiangpiaopiao Group, attracted significant attention at the Moscow International Food Exhibition, which opened on the 16th. The booth drew large crowds of local distributors and consumers eager to taste the beverage that has been gaining traction in the Russian market.

Since entering Russia in 2023, Meco has achieved an 80-fold increase in sales within two years, demonstrating rapid market expansion.

Shortly after the exhibition began at 9 a.m., Meco’s stand was already crowded. The modern red-themed design, product tasting stations, and staff dressed in traditional Chinese attire attracted numerous visitors and professional buyers.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the peach pomelo tea—the balance between tea aroma and fruit flavor is well achieved,” said Ivan Petrov, a local food distributor from Moscow. “No wonder it has quickly appeared in our major supermarkets.”

A staff member at the exhibition noted that Meco showcased its full range of products, including best-selling flavors such as cherry berry and pomegranate white grape, alongside a limited edition panda-themed packaging. “Many clients showed interest in our product formulation, especially the concept of ‘real tea and real fruit juice,’ which aligns with the growing demand for healthy beverages in Russia,” the representative added.

Meco’s success in Russia is attributed to a targeted market strategy. The brand first entered large supermarket chains such as Auchan and Magnit to build brand awareness, then expanded into upscale markets like AZBUKA VKUSA to enhance its image. It also penetrated convenience stores and food service channels to capture immediate consumption scenarios.

“We noticed that young Russians are looking for alternatives to traditional soft drinks,” said Xiangpiaopiao’s Russia market representative. “Meco meets this demand with its refreshing taste, trendy packaging, and health-oriented attributes.”

Currently, Meco is available in major Russian retail chains, including Magnit, Auchan, AZBUKA VKUSA, Fix Price, and O’Key. It has also established a presence in convenience and food service channels in key cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg. On the e-commerce platform OZON, Meco consistently ranks among the top-selling tea beverages, with consumers praising its “refreshing taste,” “natural fruit flavor,” and “stylish packaging.”

The expansion into Russia is part of Xiangpiaopiao’s broader global strategy. The company has entered markets in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, making Meco a recognizable Chinese beverage brand worldwide.

A procurement agent from Saudi Arabia at the exhibition expressed interest in introducing Meco to the Saudi market, citing its success in Russia as a motivating factor.

As the exhibition continues, Meco’s booth remains busy. A university student from Moscow shared, “I used to perceive Chinese tea as traditional, but Meco has shown me that Eastern flavors can be young and trendy.”

The brand continues to expand its international presence, reflecting the growing global appeal of Chinese beverage brands.
