MoYah and Don Jaga Unite on “Tabonga” An Afro-Fusion Anthem of Gratitude and Resistance

What happens when Hip-Hop grit meets Afro-fusion groove and the spirit of resilience? You get “Tabonga”  the latest release from Mozambican born international Afro-fusion artist MoYah, featuring Angolan singer Don Jaga. Together, they’ve created a song that pulses with rhythm while carrying a message of gratitude and strength.

Tabonga means “thank you” in Ndau, a language spoken in Mozambique. More than just a translation, it’s the heart of the track: a bold statement of appreciation for survival, community, and courage in the face of struggle.

For MoYah, born in Mozambique during the civil war, raised as a political refugee in Lisbon, and now based in the UK, the word carries deep weight. “Tabonga is about resilience, but it’s also about joy. Even in struggle, there is beauty and dignity. It’s my way of saying thank you God for life, for community, and for the journey itself,” he explains.

Musically, the track is rich and layered. Produced by Anas Rahmoune (RIAA 6× Platinum) and engineered by Dukus, a Colombian British Grammy winning producer & engineer. Tabonga blends hard-hitting rap verses with soaring melodies. MoYah’s conscious lyricism and rhythmic delivery find balance in Don Jaga’s soulful voice, which lifts the song into a heartfelt anthem. The chemistry between the two artists creates a dynamic soundscape that feels both modern and rooted in tradition.

The official music video, filmed in the UK, brings these themes to life. It celebrates African spiritual strength, migration as resilience, and gratitude as a form of resistance. With its striking visuals and storytelling, the video captures the spirit of migrant communities who carry hope and dignity wherever they go.

Since its release, Tabonga has struck a chord far beyond Refugee Week 2025, resonating with anyone who has faced struggle yet still carries strength, resilience and gratitude. It’s more than a single, it’s a reminder that music can carry stories across borders, connect communities, and turn pain into power.
