New York, NY (Merxwire) – Almonds, whose overwhelming benefits are rated by the BBC as the No. 1 of the Top 100 Healthy Foods. They can nourish the lungs, relieve coughs, and beautify the skin. But the benefits of almonds are not limited to these. According to the latest research, eating a small handful of almonds before meals can suppress appetite and calorie intake, which is very helpful for weight loss.

Almonds are among the most nutritious foods because they contain unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin B, group E, and minerals. They help maintain healthy blood vessels, nourish the body and moisten the lungs, maintain the throat, and prevent dry skin. But did you know scientists have found that eating almonds is easier to keep your stomach full than eating junk snacks? When you are complete, you will not be greedy and eat more high-calorie foods.

According to the latest research from the University of South Australia, people who eat 30 to 50 grams of almonds daily are less hungry and can reduce their junk food intake by about 300 calories daily. The study was published in the European Journal of Nutrition.

A total of 140 male and female subjects participated in the study, between the ages of 25 and 65, stable weight and non-smokers. The researchers fasted overnight, then randomly assigned them to eat an almond or a carbohydrate snack of the same calorie content. Then, they gave the subjects a buffet, checking their appetite and calories regularly during their meal quantity.
