NEC Technology Forum on Future of Biometric Payments Now Open for Registration

By: Newsfile

Tokyo, Japan--(Newsfile Corp. - September 7, 2022) - NEC's (TSE: 6701) (OTC Pink: NIPNF) annual technology forum on next-generation technologies will be held September 15.

Forum participants will learn how secure biometric payments work, the advantages of facial recognition for retail, entertainment and events, and how contactless authentication will transform travel and tourism. Panelists will also discuss the NEC I:Delight platform, and how NEC and partners have wider-ranging plans to provide people with new levels of convenience and personalized experiences.

Panelists at the forum include Takayuki Morita, President and CEO, NEC, Lone Brose, Head of Business Development, Danish Safety Technology Authority, and Tobias Puehse, VP, Product Management, Next Gen POI, Mastercard.

By 2025, some 1.4 billion people will be using facial recognition technology to authenticate payments, more than double the 671 million in 2020, according to Juniper Research.

NEC I:Delight is designed to integrate users' physical and digital identities into one ecosystem. It uses biometrics as a contactless authentication system for seamless, personalized experiences at airport and hotel check-ins and other touchpoints. The technology has already been implemented in a pilot project in the Japanese resort of Nanki Shirahama, where customers can pay for everything with just a glance.

"NEC I:Delight - Future of payment, customer experience and beyond" is scheduled to broadcast three times at 1:00 pm JST/CEST/CDT on September 15 as part of NEC's free online event. Participants can register for the session here:
