Storied Hermitage Inn in Southern Vermont Reopens With Award-Winning Culinary Team & Luxury Interiors

DOVER, Vt. - October 13, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Proprietors Mary Lou Ricci and Tim Hall, in collaboration with James Beard Award-Winning Chef-in-Residence Michael Schlow and ADV Hospitality, reopened the long-shuttered Hermitage Inn in West Dover, Vermont, today. The newly renovated property, situated in the foothills of Haystack Mountain, features gorgeous natural landscapes, refurbished custom interiors by designer Shannon Mozelak and architect Lisa Pacheco, multiple dining spaces, and a wine cellar curated by London-based oenologist, Jennifer Williams-Bulkeley.  

A favorite among locals and tourists, The Hermitage Inn has a rich history of food, wine, and hospitality, but has been closed for more than three years. Ricci and Hall, who celebrated their engagement at The Hermitage Inn, seized the opportunity to relaunch the property with the goal of bringing a world-class, year-round destination to the Deerfield Valley.

"We're humbled by the Inn's heritage. It's a shared responsibility Tim and I have to stay true to that, but also to expand on the experience," says Ricci.

The Tavern at The Hermitage Inn began welcoming its first dinner guests this week. The menu, which is expertly executed by Executive Chef Erin Bevan and Sous Chef Bonnie Bonnanzio, borrows from haute cuisine and local artisanal foods, creating a unique gastronomic experience that is both rustic and refined. Reservations for the Tavern can be made at the Inn's website. 

A fine-dining restaurant and sumptuous guest rooms featuring fireplaces and custom furnishings will open later this year. The Inn will also host wine, culinary, and cultural events throughout the year. The team aspires to build a community of foodies, wine lovers, and artisans alike with its focus on regional New England products, and both undiscovered and best-in-class winemakers. "My hope is that the Hermitage Inn is not just a bucket list, but a place people return to because it's so darned good they just have to come back again and again," says Schlow.
