Experience Opera Under the Italian Sun: Opera Studio Abruzzo Announces its Summer Program Featuring Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro

FOSSACESIA, Abruzzo, Italy (Newsworthy.ai) Friday Nov 10, 2023 @ 12:45 PM Central —

This summer, the rolling hills and olive groves of Abruzzo will resonate with the sublime melodies of Mozart, as Opera Studio Abruzzo (OSA) unveils its 2024 Summer Program. At the helm is the illustrious baritone Emilio Marcucci, who, along with a staff of lauded professionals from the Teatro alla Scala, Vienna State Opera, and Mariinsky Theater, promises an immersive operatic experience.

OSA is proud to stage not one but two adaptations of Mozart's operatic jewel, "Le Nozze di Figaro." The main event will showcase a full production with orchestra, while a specially adapted version for children will offer a unique educational twist. Participants cast in the children's opera will also have the opportunity to cover roles in the main production, providing a comprehensive learning experience.

Program Highlights

  • A full orchestral performance of a Mozart masterpiece.
  • A professional rehearsal process mirroring that of top-tier opera houses.
  • Specialized coachings to refine technique and artistry.
  • Mock and real agent auditions to prepare for professional engagements.
  • Intensive language and diction courses to master operatic Italian.
  • Insight into the Italian opera industry for aspiring professionals.
  • Masterclasses led by eminent figures in opera.
  • A captivating series of recitals throughout the program.

Venue

The program will unfold at Il Teatro degli Ulivi, a venue as enchanting as the operas themselves.

Dates

Applications are now being accepted for the program, which runs from July 1st to July 31st, 2024.

Purpose

OSA’s summer program is designed for emerging singers seeking to hone their craft, learn the ins and outs of the Italian opera system, and embrace the challenges that come with professional development.

A Word from Emilio Marcucci

Marcucci encapsulates the spirit of OSA with his compelling insights: “We offer a professional stage to those who wish to put themselves to the test. Stage experience is the ultimate teacher and refining fire for young artists. There is no better context in which a young singer can not only confront their fears and limitations but truly master them.” He encourages all to "osare" – to dare to go beyond, echoing the Italian word's invitation to push boundaries and uncover one’s true potential.
