World's First Beauty Brand Just for Redheads Celebrates 30 Years in Business

Scottsdale, Arizona, United States - 10-14-2022 (PR Distribution™) -

JUST FOR REDHEADS BEAUTY PRODUCTS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS IN BUSINESS

Researchers believe that redheads represent only a small part of the world population. The United States has a large concentration of redheads, but that still only constitutes 2 to 5 percent of the population. That is why conventional beauty brands only offer black mascara, or black/brown, which looks black on a redheads pale lashes. One person believed that redheads deserve additional support in their efforts to look more natural, and black mascara was not getting the job done. Paula Pennypacker, founder of Just for Redheads Beauty Products, decided to develop that additional support by creating her own line of cosmetics.  Fast forward 30 years – Just for Redheads (JFR) has developed into a global brand with over 100 beauty products designed by a redhead, just for redheads!

Founded by Paula Pennypacker in 1993, JFR set out to highlight the special beauty needs that is a hallmark of redheads – their pale skin, pale lashes, and freckles. Today, they are the world's first cosmetic company that caters specifically to those with flaming locks.

The brand became a reality when Pennypacker decided to put her political career on hold. She had run for mayor of Toledo, Ohio in 1993,  but lost the chance to change Toledo, so she decided to change the life of redheads forever instead.  At that time, she was unaware that destiny had other plans for her. When she saw herself on television with black mascara, she though it made her look harsh and unapproachable. That was it – she decided to start her own cosmetics line, exclusively targeting redheads. With her husband Duane C. Abbajay's support, she garnered her first clients by sending out a press release to the country's 100 largest newspapers and women's magazines. Their efforts landed the couple on the cover of Costco Magazine in March 2000, and they were also featured in People Magazine, July 1998.

In an interview, Pennypacker said that as her first article appeared in the Atlantic Constitution, her phone started ringing off the hook, and almost 30 years later, it hasn't stopped. This is proof that their collective efforts was the first successful line of beauty products designed entirely for redheads.

Pennypacker has acknowledged that specific makeup choices can depend on what kind of redhead one is, natural or dyed, strawberry or auburn. But according to her, the most important redhead makeup item is mascara. Because of this, she has launched an entire range of mascaras.

The range includes ginger brown, a warm brown without any black; ginger auburn, a warm auburn shade; ginger red, a warm red/brown shade; and ginger cocoa, a slight blonde/brown shade. All these shades perfectly complement the various shades of red hair and their blonde lashes. The company's product line includes several beauty products, from mascaras to brow products, lip products, skincare, blush, conditioners, shampoos, hair extensions, and 100% pure henna hair color.

JFR gained popularity through Pennypacker's restless efforts, and its products are now sold worldwide through retailers like Amazon and the company's own website. Even the most famous redheaded celebrities wear their mascara. Gwyneth Paltrow has also been featured wearing JFR mascara, which perfectly suited her skin tone in a film named Bounce. JFR was even a question on the game show Jeopardy. JFR’s craze was multiplied when the famous fictional redheaded Weasley family in the Harry Potter series used its products.  And Cynthia Nixon chose JFR's hair extensions in the movie Sex and the City.

There is no doubt that the brand has broken many stereotypes about beauty. It has enabled the world to change its beauty perception by calling out to redheads and making them feel comfortable in their own skin. Pennypacker has been quite successful in strengthening many redheads around the world and giving them the confidence they needed. After all – redheads want to look natural in makeup and not like a raccoon wearing black mascara.
