AKCP Announces Firmware Update Featuring BACnet Protocol Support

By: PRLog
AKCP, the world's leading manufacturer of environmental and power monitoring solutions, today announced a firmware update across its product line, introducing native BACnet protocol support. This allows seamless integration with Building Management Systems (BMS), reinforcing AKCP's role as a trusted partner for data centers, telecommunications, and industrial facilities worldwide.

SAN FRANCISCO - July 25, 2025 - PRLog -- With this update, AKCP's sensorProbe+ series of base units now feature BACnet/IP compatibility, enabling communication of sensor data — such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and power parameters — directly to BACnet-compliant systems. This eliminates the need for third-party gateways or middleware, simplifying deployment and cutting integration costs.

Key benefits of the new firmware include:
  • Native BACnet/IP Support: Seamless integration into BACnet-enabled building automation systems.
  • Enhanced visibility: Share mission-critical environmental data with BMS, improving operational visibility.
  • Cost and Complexity Reduction: No additional hardware or protocol translators required.
  • Future-Ready Architecture: Lays the groundwork for future enhancements and greater scalability.

"At AKCP we are always seeking to add value to our monitoring system and expand the number of systems we can communicate with. Implementing BACnet, a protocol that's commonly found in modern building automation, further enhances our product range," said Nicholas Barrowclough, President of AKCP. "This enhancement ensures our customers can incorporate AKCP's environmental monitoring capabilities directly into their facility management systems with minimal effort."

Availability
The BACnet-enabled firmware is available today for all compatible AKCP devices. Customers can download the firmware and view release documentation through the AKCP support portal.

About AKCP
AKCP has played a key role in data center design since the early 1980's. AKCP solutions monitor the physical environment of the smallest edge facilities to the largest hyperscalers. As the oldest and largest manufacturer of sensor systems for data centers, we have gained an insight into the daily operations across the industry.

Today AKCP provides the world's most advanced data center cooling solutions. AKCP combines proprietary technologies for energy savings of up to 50-90%. Achievable by blending 5 key technologies that are the result of 40 years of research and development.
