The Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) proudly celebrated the rich history of the Clendenen’s Cider Works with a plaque dedication ceremony on February 15th. The event in Fortuna, California, marked 116 years of the cider works’ legacy and highlighted the NSGW’s ongoing commitment to preserving California’s historical landmarks.

Clendenen’s Cider Works, a cornerstone of Fortuna’s agricultural heritage, has been a symbol of community and tradition since its establishment in 1908. The NSGW’s dedication of a historical plaque at the site underscores the organization’s mission to honor and protect the Golden State’s cultural and historical treasures.

“We are thrilled to recognize Clendenen’s Cider Works for its significant role in our local history,” said a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West. “This plaque serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our shared heritage for future generations.”

The Native Sons of the Golden West continue to play a vital role in preserving California’s history through initiatives like this plaque dedication. Since its founding, NSGW has become a key organization dedicated to preserving California’s historical sites.

From establishing the state’s initial marker in 1890 to mark the gold discovery site to protecting landmarks from the era of pioneers, NSGW has played a crucial role in upholding the historical narrative of California. Its membership has included prominent individuals who have significantly contributed to its mission, emphasizing the society’s dedication to heritage preservation and community service.
