Driving Successful Lives Helps Flint Family Get Back on the Road After Devastating Loss

The car was not just a means of transportation, but vital to the family’s livelihood

(PRUnderground) July 17th, 2025

When a young Flint couple with two small children lost their only vehicle in a sudden accident, their ability to earn a living vanished overnight. The car, vital for their DoorDash delivery work, was not fully insured, leaving them with no transportation and no income.

With rent, groceries, and childcare depending on that income, the situation felt hopeless. That’s when Driving Successful Lives Inc, a Michigan-based nonprofit, stepped in to help.

Recognizing the urgent need, the organization purchased and donated a dependable 2006 vehicle to the family, restoring their ability to work and care for their children.  “It’s incredibly rewarding to make this kind of impact,” said Mark Maupin, Director of Driving Successful Lives. “Helping a family regain stability and hope is what we’re here for. This isn’t just a car—it’s a lifeline.”

The donated vehicle allows the couple to resume DoorDash deliveries and get their children to medical appointments, daycare, and family support programs. For a family on the edge, this act of kindness means far more than transportation, it’s a fresh start.

Driving Successful Lives supports people across the country by turning donated cars and real estate into direct assistance for those in need. Every vehicle or property donation provides funding for programs to provide relief to veterans, families, and individuals facing unexpected hardships.

About Driving Successful Lives

Driving Successful Lives’ mission is to help raise funds and improve the lives of veterans, homeless families, children, those with addictions while helping donors generate a tax deduction, often with property or vehicles they might no longer want.

Every time a person gives to the charity of their choice it may also create a tax benefit for them. Car donations, real estate donations or money donated to non-profit institutions throughout the tax year may be tax deductible which means that they could make a positive difference for people while reducing the amount of income taxes they pay. Contributing to charities can be a very convenient way to reduce taxes and help others.
