Township of Montclair, N.J., Selects The Sports Facilities Companies to Lead Clary Anderson Arena Revitalization

Treasured Ice Venue Gets New Life Through Partnership with National Sports Management Leader

(PRUnderground) August 26th, 2025

The Township of Montclair has selected The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) to lead the revitalization and management of Clary Anderson Arena, a beloved single-sheet seasonal ice rink that has served as a cornerstone of the community since the early 1970s. Saved earlier this year through a collaborative, community-driven effort, the arena will now undergo a major transformation to preserve its legacy while creating a modern destination for ice sports and recreation.

“The Clary Anderson Arena is a cherished symbol of our community spirit and pride in Montclair,” said Stephen Marks, Montclair Township Manager. “With SFC bringing its expertise and proven track record, I am confident we can elevate our venue into a vibrant, multi-generational hub that will serve our community for decades to come.”

The operational transition will focus on developing unmatched programming, delivering high-quality guest services, and maintaining the physical aspects of the venue. This will include continuing to serve local organizations such as Montclair High School and Montclair Kimberley Academy, as well as numerous private youth hockey clubs. Additionally, there are plans to grow adult hockey leagues, camps, and establish community events. These objectives align with SFC’s proven approach to facility management, which focuses on driving financial performance while increasing recreational opportunities for residents.

The facility will also receive a refreshed brand that will embody a tone of revitalization and renovation with an updated logo that retains the historic “Clary Anderson” name, plus a new website and social media handles. All endeavors aim to amplify their economic and physical impact on the local community and beyond.

“Clary Anderson Arena is a part of the township’s identity, and we’re honored to contribute to its revitalization,” said Rita Mitchell, Regional Ice Venue Manager for SFC. “Our immediate focus is on optimizing operations, serving local groups, and ensuring the arena’s long-term sustainability.”

With SFC’s innovative management and operational strategies, which have marked its success nationwide in the industry, the facility now joins the extensive SF Network. With a portfolio of more than 90 properties across the United States, SFC epitomizes the gold standard in driving world-class sports experiences and optimal community well-being.
