CTA Construction Managers Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of New Concord Middle School

CTA Construction Managers recently completed the new Ellen Garrison Building at Concord Middle School.

(PRUnderground) September 2nd, 2025

CTA Construction Managers proudly joined community members, school officials, students, and project partners last month to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the new Ellen Garrison Building at Concord Middle School.

“Although students began attending the new school in February, this ceremony marked the debut of the new building to the public,” said Dr. Laurie Hunter, Superintendent of Schools.  “This event was the culmination of years of planning, design, and construction to deliver this state-of-the-art educational facility for the students and families of Concord.”

The new middle school, designed by SMMA, reflects the Town of Concord’s commitment to modern, sustainable, and flexible learning environments. “The building offers innovative classroom spaces, advanced technology integration, and energy-efficient features that support both academic excellence and environmental stewardship,” said Jennifer Soucy, Architect and Project Manager at SMMA. “In addition, the building is fully LEED-certifiable,” she continued.

The ribbon cutting also highlights the successful collaboration between the Town of Concord, owner’s project management firm LiRo-Hill (formerly Hill International), SMMA, and general contractor CTA Construction Managers. This team has worked closely together to ensure that the school was delivered on time and with the highest construction standards.

Concord previously operated two separate middle school campuses (Sanborn and Peabody).  “The Ellen Garrison building combined the two previous middle school campuses, leading to logistical efficiencies and reduced operational costs,” said Ian Parks, Program Director at LiRo-Hill. “The new single campus improves efficiency and brings all middle school students under one roof, fostering a unified school community.”

“Seeing the community come together to celebrate this milestone is a testament to the vision and dedication of everyone involved,” said Lyle Coghlin, Principal, CTA Construction Managers. “This new school will serve generations of students and will stand as a point of pride for the Town of Concord.”

CTA has an extensive history of collaborating with both SMMA and LiRo-Hill.  Past projects with SMMA include North Middlesex Regional High School, Tewksbury High School, and Parker Elementary School.

CTA Construction Managers completed 12 past school projects with LiRo-Hill, including Swampscott Elementary School, Park Avenue Elementary School, and Howe-Manning Elementary.

The successful completion of Concord Middle School is a testament to CTA Construction Managers’ reputation as a trusted partner in the delivery of complex K-12 educational facilities across Massachusetts.
