TransDigm (TDG) Q4 Earnings: What To Expect

Aerospace and defense company TransDigm (NYSE:TDG) will be announcing earnings results tomorrow before market open. Here’s what to expect.

TransDigm beat analysts’ revenue expectations by 1.9% last quarter, reporting revenues of $2.19 billion, up 18% year on year. It was a strong quarter for the company, with a solid beat of analysts’ adjusted operating income estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting TransDigm’s revenue to grow 13.8% year on year to $2.04 billion, slowing from the 28.1% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $7.74 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. TransDigm has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates three times over the last two years.

Looking at TransDigm’s peers in the aerospace segment, some have already reported their Q4 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. AAR delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 25.8%, beating analysts’ expectations by 4.8%, and Textron reported a revenue decline of 7.2%, falling short of estimates by 5.9%. AAR traded up 8.6% following the results while Textron was down 3.6%.

Investors in the aerospace segment have had steady hands going into earnings, with share prices flat over the last month. TransDigm is up 7% during the same time and is heading into earnings with an average analyst price target of $1,490 (compared to the current share price of $1,353).
