He stresses the importance of acquiring certifications from big-name companies and attending education sessions, conferences and seminars. Otherwise, their skill set will lag behind what is necessary to be successful in their industry. "You need to always stay up on those things," Mr. Vasicek says. "You need to be getting those certifications, you need to be attending the conferences and you need to be attending education classes to always stay relevant."

A Successful Career

Mr. Vasicek is thankful to his parents for the way they raised him, believing their influence was instrumental in his success. "There's certainly credit due to those who were closely involved in my upbringing and also many of the teachers that I had along the way, because I certainly wouldn't be here without their guidance," Mr. Vasicek says.

There have also been several mentors who provided Mr. Vasicek with invaluable advice during his career, which has had a significant impact on his success. One piece of advice was to develop relationships with everyone within an organization and be aware that these connections evolve over time. To this day, he checks in with the people he has worked with over the last 20 years.
