Bearbottom Puts Giving Back at the Center of Its Operations

TAMPA, FL / ACCESS Newswire / September 30, 2025 / While most of the fashion industry has a reputation for chasing profit over purpose, one brand unites quality menswear with a heartfelt commitment to giving back. Founded by Robert Felder, Bearbottom is a clothing brand that blends everyday functionality with social responsibility. Its impact is evident in customers' wardrobes and in communities across the globe.

"I had the idea for this business nearly a decade ago," recalls Felder. "Our original business idea has evolved, but the drive to offer the best possible clothing and make our world a better place hasn't changed. We are always on a mission to improve our product and our impact."

Bearbottom's everyday clothes: designed for life's adventures

Bearbottom designs clothes that keep up with life's best adventures. "Whether you're exploring outdoors or relaxing at home, we want you to enjoy each moment to the fullest," says Felder. "The innovative stretch fabrics and features we include in each design have a purpose. We want you to focus less on what you're wearing and more on the moments that matter."

With this goal in mind, the brand incorporates advanced technical fabrics, once exclusive to elite athletes, into its everyday wear. Quick-drying, anti-odor, and biodegradable synthetic materials are integral to their lineup. It's an approach that's out to make high-performance features accessible to everyone.

Beyond comfort and style, Bearbottom proudly champions sustainability. Rejecting fast fashion trends, Bearbottom's designs focus on core products.

"Our clothes remain stylish and functional season after season," explains Felder. "In fact, one of our most popular products, the Stretch Short, actually happens to be the very first product we ever created."

For Felder, minimizing waste throughout the design and production process is key, which is why Bearbottom embeds ethical manufacturing practices into all of its day-to-day operations. Put simply, they do business differently, and the world is a better place for it. By continually refining its efficiency and adopting responsible practices, Bearbottom aims to reduce the environmental footprint of the fashion industry while meeting real consumer needs.

Careful thought went into the brand's push to include eco-friendly fabrics. "I knew about the increasing use of recycled polyester fabrics, but I wanted to see the process firsthand," explains Felder. "While touring a factory in India, I was fascinated to see how post-consumer plastics turn into fibers - used bottles were taken into the building, and yarn for sustainable fabric came out. We take every detail of our clothing seriously, down to the labels."

The heart behind Bearbottom's success

The inspiring story of Bearbottom dates back to 2012, when Felder, a high school student at the time, first visited Bangladesh. "During that trip, I had the chance to ask what the people of Bangladesh needed most," he remembers. "The answer they gave was ‘jobs.'"

Moved by the experience, Felder returned home determined to make a difference. The opportunity arrived when he noticed a gap in men's fashion. As an avid outdoor adventurer, he wanted clothes that catered to both style and durability.

"Stores just didn't stock what I was looking for," Felder remarks. "I wanted clothes that were comfortable year-round, that held up under rugged conditions, and that looked great, too. That's when I decided to make the clothing myself."

His father's 30-year career in the apparel industry gave Felder an idea. Knowing that Bangladesh is home to some of the world's largest apparel manufacturers, he created a business model built on impact. His mission to help people a world away spurred the launch of Bearbottom in 2014.

Bearbottom: A business model with global impact

Felder launched Bearbottom with a non-negotiable dedication to ethical manufacturing practices. "I wasn't going to allow fashion to come at the expense of the people making it," he explains. "From day one, we set up transparent relationships with factories. We vetted each one thoroughly to make sure that they met our standards for both working conditions and environmental impact."

Felder's idea for Bearbottom brought desperately needed jobs to communities in Bangladesh, but he knew his company could do more. In 2021, as part of Bearbottom's mission to "build better futures one meal at a time," he implemented an initiative to address people's needs for food and clothing. Partnering with Akshaya Patra, a leading global NGO, the brand donates a school meal for every item purchased by customers. According to Bearbottom's mission webpage, the brand has surpassed the milestone of donating over 1.5 million meals to children before the end of 2025.

Closer to home, Bearbottom's mission also supports its Tampa Bay community through scholarships for veteran service dog programs and clothing donations to organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club.

Bearbottom continues to put customers and community first

The way Felder treats the people around him extends to each ‌of his customers. "I personally read every review that isn't five stars," says Felder. "When someone feels we can do better, I want to know how. My goal is to make every customer feel heard and valued."

The fashion industry is all too often criticized for short-sightedness when it comes to environmental and social impact. But Bearbottom is one brand determined to make a difference.

"This journey began with the mission to make a positive impact in the world," Felder concludes. "That desire is still ingrained in the brand's DNA. Best of all, it resonates with our audience as well. Our customers come to us because they are looking for both style and substance."
