Marquis Who's Who Honors Eric L. Andersen as a Top Engineer

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 30, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Eric L. Andersen as a top engineer. Mr. Andersen is a mechanical hardware development engineer expert at HP in the LaserJet Enterprise Solutions Division. Nicknamed the "scan man," he is recognized for his extensive knowledge of scanners, automatic document feeders and paper paths.

About Mr. Eric Andersen
Mr. Andersen was raised by parents who taught him resilience and that quitting was not an option. No matter the challenges he encountered, even if he got knocked down, he needed to get right back on his feet. Mr. Andersen's father often told him, "If your word means nothing, then you mean nothing."

Motivated by his father's advice, Mr. Andersen has overcome significant adversity. He was a star athlete and played soccer on a competitive level, but an accident left him seriously injured. He was told that he might never walk again and lost his scholarships. However, he was determined to regain his ability to walk. It took multiple surgeries, perseverance and his competitive spirit to finally be able to stand again.

Despite losing his scholarships, Mr. Andersen earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduating, he began working at HP in the Bay Area, specifically in the optoelectronics division. In that position, he focused on LEDs and optical encoders.

During his nearly four-decade-long career, Mr. Andersen has advanced through a variety of roles at HP, spanning manufacturing lines, quality assurance and design. While working in Boise, Idaho, he contributed to testing innovations, wrote two magazine articles on HP's quality processes and engaged in highly accelerated life testing and stress screening.

Mr. Andersen eventually joined the LaserJet group, where he has remained for three decades, designing scanners and automatic document feeders. His expertise in these areas earned him the nickname "scan man" among colleagues.

Notable Career and Personal Achievements
Among Mr. Andersen's most notable achievements are the numerous patents he holds. Two stand out among the rest, including one that was licensed by Boeing and other companies. A second patent, which enables users to select their preferred language while using ATMs in other countries, was licensed to Visa and American Express. These solutions have not only saved HP hundreds of millions of dollars for its customers but also made replication by competitors prohibitively costly.

To this day, Mr. Andersen continues to enjoy working at HP and developing new products. He is approaching his 40th anniversary with them and has appreciated the role he has played within the firm. He was recently featured on the HP podcast to discuss 3D printing and its practical applications.

Mr. Andersen has also devoted his time and energy to other endeavors, such as participating in the Boise Disability Business Resource Group. Inspired by his son's rare case of color blindness, he wrote a presentation titled "Fire Trucks for Dark: Color Blindness Through the Eyes of a Child in an Adult World." He has given talks to schools, churches and at HP and received a lot of positive feedback. His son went on to become a graduate of the University of Idaho, majoring in virtual design and technology.

For his expertise in engineering, Mr. Andersen was included in Marquis Who's Who in Nov. 2024.
