Leadership Expert Dr. Ian Buchanan to Launch Masterclass on the KING Leadership Framework

Dr. Ian Buchanan, founder and CEO of Nia Education Group, launches a four-part KING Leadership Masterclass centered around the themes of his recent book, KING: A Four-Part Leadership Framework for Black Men. The KING Leadership Masterclass includes monthly workshops that are designed to help leaders transform themselves as they transform the world. The workshops focus on both technical and adaptive leadership competencies.

The KING Leadership Masterclass has two separate cohorts beginning on October 17th (Tuesday) and October 28th (Saturday), respectively. Education, corporate, and nonprofit leaders of all backgrounds are invited to attend and participate in this transformational leadership experience.

Dr. Buchanan explains, “In addition to the content, the KING Leadership Masterclass convenes a powerful network of mission-aligned leaders from our region. This masterclass brings together leaders who are committed to building their capacity and deepening their impact.”

Over a span of more than two decades, Dr. Buchanan has served in a number of teaching roles at the K-12, adult basic education, undergraduate, and graduate levels. He also spent more than a decade in school leadership roles at the elementary and middle school levels. Along with the K-12 teaching and leadership experience, Buchanan also has served as an HBCU admissions officer, National Science Foundation Fellow, and Teach For America Managing Director.

As a renowned speaker, consultant, and educator, Dr. Buchanan’s influence spans the globe. Buchanan’s commitment to supporting, developing, and cultivating black and brown leadership is grounded in the concept of Kujichagulia, the Kiswahili term for self-determination. “It is imperative that we confront the policies, practices, and systems that marginalize us. We cannot do that without talented, competent leaders committed to the mission.”

Through this four-part masterclass, participants will operationalize a plan to: enhance their emotional intelligence; confront self-limiting behaviors and unchallenged assumptions; nurture and leverage powerful networks/relationships; and better leverage their “why” to realize personal and professional achievements.

The first in-person KING Leadership Masterclass takes place at the Legacy Center, 6850 Normandale Drive St. Louis, MO  63121.
