Kickstart Accounting Founder Danielle Hayden Talks Tax Tips for Small Business Owners on The Treatment Room Podcast

In a recent episode of The Treatment Room podcast, Danielle Hayden, CPA and co-founder of Kickstart Accounting Inc., gave her best advice for small business owners who want to take control of their finances and taxes.

In the interview, Danielle emphasized the importance of separating business and personal expenses to avoid legal issues and overpaying taxes. She also advised business owners to closely track all of their business expenses to be better prepared for tax time.

“As a business owner, you have to advocate for yourself. We allow CPAs to guide us rather than making sure we’re educated. Educate yourself so that you can be prepared when you file your taxes this year. Then you can ask your CPA, “did you include these expenses in my return?”

In the discussion, Danielle also provided guidance on evaluating spending levels across expense categories to align with greater growth goals.

Danielle said, “Ask yourself, are you hitting your goals? And if the answer is no, then we actually need to look at your spending to make sure that you’re spending enough.”
