American Tire Pushes Through Road Construction Challenges—Calls on Community Support

McHenry, IL – August 20, 2025 – Road construction is a necessary part of growth and safety in Lake County, but for many small businesses, it comes with a heavy cost. American Tire, located at 30540 N. Farrell Road, McHenry, Illinois 60051, has felt the impact firsthand as construction continues on Darrell Road with new roundabouts at Case/Neville/Darrell and Dowell/Darrell/Fisher.

The project, while much-needed for improving traffic flow, has limited access for months, leaving some local businesses struggling to stay visible.

“It’s been tough these past few months. Just last Wednesday, we had no customers. Luckily, we are survivors and never say die,” said James Hall, owner of American Tire.

Hall, who has served the northern Lake and McHenry County communities since 2006, is known for offering unbeatable prices on quality used and new tires.

“Our quality used tires start at just $25 installed,” said Hall. “And right now, we just brought in a load of brand-new 205/55R16 tires for only $90 installed—a deal you won’t find anywhere else.”

Fortunately, with the southern roundabout nearly complete, customers once again have easier access to American Tire. Drivers can reach the shop via Case Road, Darrell South, or Neville Road.
