Uthinkindigo Hosts a Clubhouse Event “Operation Ghana Arise” with Award-Winning Production Sound Mixer Willie D. Burton

By: Get News

Los Angeles, California - Apr 13, 2023 - Uthinkindigo, a global thinktank, founded by Melissa Perkins is excited to announce its upcoming Clubhouse event featuring special guest Willie D. Burton, an award-winning production sound mixer and two-time Academy Award winner. The event is part of Uthinkindigo's campaign for global expansion and will take place on Saturday, April 15th, at 12pm EST.

With a career spanning over four decades, Burton has worked on over 100 movies, including acclaimed movies such as "Bird," "Dreamgirls," and "The Shawshank Redemption." He is an Oscar winner for both (“Bird” - 1988 and “Dreamgirls” - 2006).  He is one of two African Americans to receive the Academy Award for Best Sound.  His Academy Award nominations include his work on the films, The Buddy Holly Story (1978), Altered States (1980), War Games (1983), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), and The Green Mile (1999) among others.  With twelve nominations as of 2019, Burton is the Academy's most-honored African American in the film industry. He also won the BAFTA Film Award for Best Sound for the movie “War Games.” As a member of the Minority Diversity Committee at Netflix and a member of the Academy Awards and the Cinema Audio Society, he is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the film industry.

In his career Burton has worked with some of the best directors in the industry, including Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, John Badham, Sam Mendes, the late Jonathan Demme, Ava Duvernay, F. Gary Gray, David Fincher and Denzel Washington to name a few.  This has given him an opportunity to observe their techniques over the years, and ultimately develop his own style as a director. Burton's latest project is "Voices," a short film that addresses issues of racism, police brutality, Covid-19, and the Black Lives Matter movement, featuring actor Lamman Rucker. He is also developing several new projects, including a supernatural thriller and two documentaries.

The Clubhouse event will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in a conversation with Willie D. Burton, as well as to learn more about Uthinkindigo's mission and its campaign for global expansion. The event is open to anyone who is interested in supporting Uthinkindigo's commitment to promoting problem-solving, diverse perspectives, and inspiring creativity. Uthinkindigo connects businesses, creators, and thinkers from around the world, providing a space for diverse perspectives to be shared and new ideas to be born. The campaign for global expansion will enable Uthinkindigo to broaden its reach and impact, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation in business, the arts, and in education.
