Double Life Entertainment Commences Pre-Production of Anthony Headen’s New Film “Uncle Carla”

Headen, a champion of women and minorities, will explore society’s truths and the effects of injustice on communities in new film

LOS ANGELES - June 21, 2024 - Writer-Director Anthony Headen, a seasoned professional filmmaker and expert on the media’s depiction of women and minorities in film, today announced that his latest project, “Uncle Carla.” Now in pre-production from Double Life Entertainment, “Uncle Carla” is being funded by crowdfunding event. The film is an important addition to Headen’s portfolio, which includes two short films. Double Life Entertainment is managing the crowdfunding campaign.

According to Headen, “We are two years into the game, with two fantastic short films under our belt. Now we are raising money for our first feature film, ‘Uncle Carla.’ To date we have released one of the short films, ‘We Are Human Too,’ which won awards at the Marina del Rey Film Festival, the Independent Shorts Awards, and the IndieX Film Festival. ‘We Are Human Too’ exposes police violence affecting unarmed people of color. We exposed actions by police and the unfair justice system, and color them black. Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tamir Rice and others appear as Caucasian.”

The second short explores the roles of ego and logic in one's life, bringing to light just how misleading and devastating it can be to make a bad choice by listening to ego more often than that of logic.

Double Life Entertainment is well known not only for films about social justice content, but also for commercial films with female leads. Its company mandate is that women are neither objectified nor demeaned in any way.

“Uncle Carla is about an ex-navy seal who is transitioning to be a woman,” explained Headen. “We see how incredibly challenging it can be looking for acceptance by their loved ones. Eventually the protagonist finally finds peace and happiness, living as they always wished to be.”
