Rodrigo Veloso, Founder of ONE AMAZON, Joins Panel Discussion on Amazon Sustainability at Nobel Sustainability Trust Event

Rodrigo Veloso, founder of ONE AMAZON, spoke at the Nobel Sustainability Trust event at UC Berkeley, highlighting the "Internet of Forests" initiative. This project uses advanced technology to tokenize rainforest land, aiming to combat deforestation and promote sustainable development in the Amazon.

Rodrigo Veloso, founder of ONE AMAZON, participated in a high-profile panel discussion on the sustainability of the Amazon Rainforest at the Nobel Sustainability Trust event, held at the University of California, Berkeley. The event brought together leaders in environmental innovation and sustainability to address urgent global challenges, including deforestation, climate change, and the need for renewable solutions.

Veloso shared insights into the work of ONE AMAZON, focusing on its flagship initiative, the Internet of Forests, which uses satellite imagery, advanced sensors, and blockchain technology to tokenize hectares of the rainforest. By redefining the Amazon’s economic value as a living ecosystem, ONE AMAZON aims to combat deforestation and promote sustainable development in the region.

“I am honored to have represented ONE AMAZON at an event hosted by the Nobel Sustainability Trust,” Veloso stated. “It’s through partnerships and platforms like these that we can amplify our efforts to protect the Amazon and create innovative pathways to sustainability.”

 About the Nobel Sustainability Trust

The Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST) was founded by members of the Nobel family to tackle pressing global issues related to the destruction and overuse of natural and non-renewable resources. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, the Trust emphasizes the importance of renewable energy and sustainable development as tools to address global warming and pollution across land, water, food, and air.

NST’s mission includes promoting pollution-free and renewable technologies, accelerating the transition to a sustainable society by fostering prosperity, governance, and transparency, and ensuring a livable environment within the Earth’s ecological limits.

The Trust also oversees the prestigious Sustainability Award, which recognizes achievements in two categories:

           1.        Leadership in Implementation

           2.        Outstanding Research and Development

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) serves as the Award Coordinating University (ACU) for the 2023–2025 cycle, with its Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS) managing the selection process in collaboration with international experts.
