Global Immigration Partners Issues Statement on New H-1B Executive Order

Global Immigration Partners Issues Statement on New H-1B Executive Order

Washington, D.C.Global Immigration Partners, a leading U.S. immigration law firm, today released a statement addressing the recent executive order imposing new restrictions on the H-1B visa program. The order, effective September 21, 2025, introduces a one-time $100,000 fee for all new H-1B petitions filed from abroad and directs federal agencies to prioritise higher-paid and higher-skilled roles in visa allocation.

“This policy represents one of the most significant shifts in employment-based immigration in decades,” said Alexander Jovy, Co-Managing Partner at Global Immigration Partners. “While the stated goal is to elevate U.S. competitiveness, the order introduces unprecedented financial and procedural barriers that will affect employers, skilled professionals, and key sectors of the U.S. economy.”

The firm notes that the executive order is expected to generate widespread uncertainty among U.S. employers, universities, and foreign workers. Many organisations are evaluating whether the increased cost of sponsorship is sustainable, while others await additional guidance from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Labour.

Global Immigration Partners is also monitoring the potential for legal challenges, as industry groups and employers may contest the order’s legality, arguing that the new fee structure exceeds presidential authority and bypasses established rulemaking procedures.

“We are advising clients to stay informed and plan strategically,” added Alexander Jovy. “Until further guidance or court rulings clarify the order’s scope, employers should carefully assess timing, budget, and immigration alternatives.”

Global Immigration Partners will continue to provide updates and analysis as new information becomes available.
