National Excellence Award candidates are measured by UpCity’s Recommendability Rating. It is a proprietary algorithm that evaluates a service provider’s overall brand integrity, credibility, recommendability, and reputation. Additionally, shortlisted candidates need to achieve a high customer satisfaction rate to rank as the top 1% of the UpCity marketplace, across the United States and Canada.

To calculate a provider’s UpCity Recommendability Rating, the platform collects data from their own digital marketplace and external sources. Below is a list of key factors that are taken into consideration:

• UpCity Reviews: This criterion indicates how customers feel about their providers before recommending them in an online marketplace. The algorithm evaluates the quantity and quality of their reviews.
• UpCity Engagement Rate: This criterion indicates if a B2B service provider is still active within UpCity's marketplace.
• Business Location Data: The algorithm checks if the candidate's contact information is up to date in local listing sites (i.e., Google My Business, LinkedIn, etc.) Additionally, this information must be consistent with the UpCity listing.
• Website Speed and Overall Experience: The candidate’s business website must load fast, and visitors should not experience major latency issues.
• 3rd Party Reviews: UpCity determines the overall quality of a provider’s reviews on Facebook Yelp!, and Google My Business.
• Domain Authority and Presence in Search Engines: UpCity determines how much authority a B2B provider's domain has in the eyes of Google and other major search engines. A trusted domain authority metric is used in the process.
• UpCity Profile Completion: Each provider needs to complete at least 40 data points on their UpCity profile, including available products/services, target markets, price points, and more.
