Optometrist Jordan Evans recently joined the highly trained and experienced team at Riverside EyeCare Professionals in Redding, CA and has been helping to upgrade the services offered at the practice.

Redding, CA — According to Redding cataract surgeon and ophthalmologist Dr. Michael Sumison, the team at Riverside EyeCare Professionals was already comprised of top-notch vision specialists, but with the addition of Jordan Evans, OD last year, he believes the practice has strengthened its entire staff. 

Dr. Evans joined board-certified ophthalmologists Dr. Michael Sumsion and Dr. Sean Sumsion at Riverside EyeCare Professionals almost a year ago on a team that has been providing eyecare services since its beginnings in 1997. With the addition of Dr. Evans as a highly-trained optometrist, the ophthalmologists say the practice has been able to bolster its staff and expand levels of care. Dr. Evans has experience treating a vast range of ocular diseases that can negatively impact one’s vision. These conditions include glaucoma and macular degeneration, both conditions that can greatly affect the vision of patients. Dr. Evans is also trained to accurately and effectively treat patients who are suffering from vision deficiencies like refractive errors with contact lenses, specialty lenses, scleral lenses, and eyeglasses. 

In 2019, Dr. Evans graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. Prior to earning a degree in optometry, Dr. Evans also received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Idaho in Human Physiology. Outside of work, Dr. Evans plays basketball, soccer, and enjoys running on the trails located in Redding — but spending time with his family is his favorite activity. He prides himself on being compassionate to others and strives to provide the best possible care for his patients. Dr. Evans says he strongly believes in the philosophy of heart surgeon Russel M. Nelson, who said, “The duty of a doctor, primarily, is to teach. A doctor is really functioning at his highest level when he is teaching his patient what is wrong and what can be done about it.” Throughout his career, Dr. Evans says he has carried this ideology with him at all times, noting he puts his patients first, ensuring they are well-informed and able to comfortably communicate with him and the team at Riverside EyeCare Professionals.
