Diamond Recovery Center Welcomes New Therapist with a Passion for Service and Healing

Diamond Recovery Center welcomes new therapist Jake, a Navy veteran turned mental health advocate, bringing heart, humor, and healing to the team.

(PRUnderground) July 24th, 2025

Diamond Recovery Center is excited to announce the addition of a new therapist, Jake, to their growing clinical team. Jake brings a unique and deeply personal approach to therapy, shaped by a career that has spanned military service, customer care, and a newfound calling in the mental health field.

Before entering the world of therapy, Jake served in the U.S. Navy as an I.T. specialist and worked in customer service, all while holding a B.A. in Business Administration. After completing active duty in 2022, he returned to civilian work but quickly realized something was missing. That realization led him to pursue a Master’s in Social Work, along with certification in Military Behavioral Health, a decision he now calls the best he’s ever made, aside from joining the military.

Jake completed 900 hours of practicum with the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association, where he supported clients facing tough life challenges. His background, combined with his calm, down-to-earth demeanor, helped clients open up and feel truly heard. At Diamond Recovery, he brings that same sense of empathy and real-world wisdom into each group and individual session.

Currently working toward his LCSW, Jake is expanding his training with certifications in Narrative Therapy and possibly Accelerated Resolution Therapy. His sessions blend methods like CBT, DBT, Music Therapy, and Positive Psychology, and he’s known for starting Mondays with a light-hearted icebreaker to ease into deeper conversations.

Travis Whittaker, owner of Diamond Recovery Center, said, “Jake has a rare ability to meet people where they are. He brings compassion, humor, and a whole lot of heart. We’re lucky to have him on our team.”

Diamond Recovery Center invites the community to welcome Jake and see firsthand the difference personalized, compassionate care can make.
