Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital Expands Kidney Clinic to Meet Growing Needs in Northern Utah

New Ogden clinic allows Intermountain Health to care for more patients, reducing wait times and improving access.

(PRUnderground) September 18th, 2025

Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital is expanding kidney care in northern Utah with the opening of a new Intermountain Health kidney clinic in Ogden.

The new medical office is located across the street from the hospital’s main campus and significantly expands the number of patients who can receive care.

37 million Americans have some degree of kidney disease, which is about 1 in 7 adults. Catching issues early and the use of medication has shown to slow chronic kidney disease, according to kidney health experts at Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital.

“The goal of our clinic is to treat patients early and avoid more serious treatments like dialysis,” said Kristen Lile, MD, lead nephrologist for Intermountain Kidney Services at Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital. “With this clinic expansion we can take on more appointments and reduce people’s wait time for an appointment.”

At the new Intermountain Ogden clinic, patients will benefit from a dedicated team of caregivers including physicians, advanced practice providers and specialized kidney care nurse navigators who help patients through every step of the process.

With eight exam rooms, caregivers can see more patients and give them the personalized and proactive care they need.

Tailored treatments plans help patients better manage their kidney health. If dialysis becomes necessary for a patient, caregivers will help them transition to home dialysis whenever possible.

Although millions of people suffer from severe kidney disease, 9 in 10 people don’t even know they have it. That’s why doctors encourage people to go in for their annual physical with their primary care doctor for testing.

“Technology and treatment have advanced a lot in recent years and patients have more options,” said Anitha Vijayan, MD, senior medical director of Intermountain Kidney Services. “This clinic is another way we’re investing in our growing communities and helping people live the healthiest lives possible.”
