English and Spanish materials include worksheets to help patients and caregivers collect, record, and share symptom, diagnosis, and treatment information.
WASHINGTON, DC / ACCESSWIRE / March 6, 2023 / The not-for-profit Aimed Alliance announced today that it has produced and published new resources to help consumers have informed conversations with their health care providers. A new publication titled, "Let's Talk: Questions & Conversations You Should Have with Your Health Care Provider" provides consumers with suggestions for information they should keep track of before a health care visit, questions to ask during an appointment, and considerations to help monitor their condition after starting a new treatment. The document includes a printable worksheet and is available in English and Spanish.

The new resources acknowledge that it is common for consumers who have been recently diagnosed with a rare or chronic condition to feel overwhelmed with their diagnosis, and not know or recall the questions they should be asking during a health care visit. For consumers who have had limited engagement with the health care system, a new diagnosis and treatment regimen can seem especially overwhelming.
"Many individuals who receive a chronic condition diagnosis in adulthood are not prepared to confront the barriers they can experience when trying to access care, the limitations health plans can impose on treatments, and the need to advocate for themselves and against these limitations," said Aimed Alliance Counsel, Ashira Vantrees. "Receiving a new diagnosis can feel like you have arrived in a new and unfamiliar territory of health care and health insurance - where you don't know what you don't know. These new resources inform and equip health care consumers."
The "Let's Talk" materials include worksheets to help patients and caregivers document health care histories, symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment regimens and responses.
